Visibility is hard and there’s science to prove it

Visibility is a buzzy concept in online business. All the marketing girlies – and I include myself in this esteemed group – have been using the V-word lately.

For good reason; there’s just no way around it if you want to achieve the success you desire.

But the other truth is that visibility is hard af. Like literally and figuratively.

And the good news is – it’s not just you.

It’s hard to capture attention in today’s attention economy. It’s also hard to be seen when you’re underrecognized.

There’s science to prove it!

This week on Personal Business – you know, my podcast that turned out to be all about just how hard visibility can be – I’m joined by my friend Chloé Nwangwu, a.k.a. The Brand Scientist, to break this all down for us.

Tune in to this week’s episode to hear Chloé explain:

✨ Why attention is so hard to capture and keep in 2025

✨ The unique challenges to visibility under recognized folks are up against – and why providing more free is not a winning strategy

✨ How to move through the more tender, emotional side of visibility

She also provided some very generous advice on my next steps for visibility here at Slow and Steady.

How does your relationship with visibility and marketing help or hinder your success? I’d love to hear. Drop me a line.

Until then, go slow and stay steady.

It was an honour and a joy to be a guest on Yarrow's Kind Business Podcast: listen in right here.

Just one more reminder that Meta giveth and Meta taketh away: Hamilton woman says business erased 'from existence' after Instagram account shut down.

Not to harsh the vibe, but we're less than 100 days away from Black Friday. Here's a great reference checklist if you're planning a campaign or special offer!

And a fun book I can't put down.
