A fresh website & a few thoughts on asking for help

This week I hit publish on a refreshed Slow & Steady website.

It’s been a long time coming.

And while it still doesn’t feel done I’m excited to share it.

When I first got the whisper that maaaaayyyyyybe there was a disconnect somewhere in my business, back before Personal Business had come to fruition, I hired a copywriter.

I had just gone through a launch that did not perform the way I had hoped. On paper, it looked like a pretty decent campaign: open rates were good, click-throughs decent. I had more discovery calls than I’ve ever had during a launch cycle.

But in the end, sales were low.

When I reflected on the campaign and the feedback I got from folks who had been engaging with my emails I realized that there was a disconnect between what I knew about my offer and how I was talking about it.

So I hired a copywriter to help me re-write my website.

This was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my business. As a writer, a published author, it felt weird and like some kind of failure that I was hiring another writer to help me with something that I thought I could – or more accurately should – do on my own.

And at first, I kind of hated it.

Not because the process or the drafts weren’t good – far from it, Nicole is the best – but because it pushed me to expand and say things out loud that I’ve always known but felt afraid to say out loud.

That’s the value of having someone working with you in your business.

You’ll say or do things you might never have said on your own because you need someone in your corner to remind you, yes you can.

I’d love to hear what you think (or if you come across anything that doesn't work quite right). I took design inspiration from the zines and collages I made when I was teenager. My favourite part is the sequins.

Until next time,

PS: Hit subscribe and catch up on Personal Business, my private podcast about rebuilding my business in real time.

No new episode this week as I literally lost my voice, but stay tuned for a very juicy episode with my friend and coach Taylor Elyse Morrison coming next week!

Tabs I kept open all week

This week I contributed one of 21 Tiny Pep Talks to Off the Grid. The episode is filled with great advice from some of the best and smartest people on the Internet. I loved every single pep talk, each one felt like exactly what I needed to hear.

I have been loving my Cycles Journal which has been so supportive as I try to make sense of my 42 year old hormones. Pre-order a 2026 journal made with love and care by Slowpoke Rachael Amber - the pre-sale goodies alone are worth it.

Sometimes you're going to have to send an oops! email to your list. No matter the reason for your oops, here are some good examples of how to do it right.

And a peak-season poem. 🍅
